INSPIRATION
About
LAKSHWADEEP

“I was scuba diving in the lagoons of Lakshadweep island. The unsoiled sea bed was a vision I couldn’t forget with its corals, colourful fishes and other marine fauna. My designer genes went on an overdrive and I wanted to reproduce & recapture its beauty”.

I carved the seabed out of a block of acrylic. I didn’t however use real corals, as they’re important to marine eco system. Instead, I used black and rough diamonds, Tahitian pearls and other coloured stones. The clasp of the necklace is in the shape of an octopus and I used rubies, as its belly is pink,”

The  main design element is shaped like the southern tip of India.

“This piece and its diamonds will not glitter without these fish.

They are my true gems in it. I don’t intend to reap in profits with it. It’s just a tribute to the disintegrating oceans and seas of the world and a way of showing my love for nature.”
